In the course of a diverse, nearly 20-year career in the music industry, Milton Thomas has proven to be a visionary and skilled mentor. Now, as founder and leader of Music Services Management, he is sharing the knowledge with up-and-coming artists—so more of musicians have a shot at their dreams.
Few music industry executives can boast the depth and breadth of Milton’s expertise and experience. Milton started his career at Chrysalis Records in the finance and administration department. Quickly, his creative strengths were noticed and he began helping in the A&R department by listening to incoming demos and advising executives who demonstrated talent. While at Chrysalis, he also learned the promotion end of the business from mentors like Clarence Barnes.
After six years he moved onto Jive Records. While at Jive he began managing a young group independently. Gaining experience in video production and promotions, including press coverage, Milton got the group their first contract with IRS/EMI Records. He then joined the New York City office of Boston-based On-Target Productions and Management. There he successfully headed the A&R Administration Department and worked closely with the artist development department. He also worked with numerous labels, producing and launching new artists’ singles, albums and videos.
In the last two decades, Milton also consistently offered his expertise as a freelance consultant. Now, Music Services Management expands and incorporates all the various aspects of the business that he has mastered. |
